Perhaps you never thought of jeans as being the nucleus of the everyman’s fashion world, but take a look around you. They are everywhere. Of course jeans are not acceptable in most workplaces; the stock exchange, that power law firm, the loan department. But still, for most of us, they remain a way of life.
The popularity of denim dates back to the 18th century, when it was used unfortunately by slaves who needed the resilient fiber, for the blazing days spent working the cotton field rows. Jeans were then selected for the dregs of society. Prisoners. This still holds true today. Picture perfect were Andy Dufresne and Red in Stephen King’s Shawshank Redemption wearing their “not a stitch out of place denim uniform.” The strong woven fibers were durable and comfortable which would suit individuals who would spend their days entrenched in the laborious duties of rock breaking, laundry detail, wood shop craft and the occasional stroll through the desolate yard.

You can never have enough pairs; each one says something different about you. When you think of jeans in a “hey, by the way” manner, they sound very uninteresting.
